St. Martin hammers Harrison Central

St. Martin dominated a Region 4-6A opponent for the second consecutive week. The Yellow Jackets moved to 2-1 in league play with a 41-7 thumping of homestanding Harrison Central at Earl Phillips Stadium in Lyman Friday night. The Red Rebels fell to 1-2 in league play, while SMHS moves to 5-3 overall with the big win. St. Martin senior standout quarterback Wayne Overman tossed three scoring strikes in the first half, as the visitors took a commanding 24-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Issac Williams scored on a 20 yard run for the Yellow Jackets and Ham McGee broke loose on a 26-yard scoring run. St. Martin placekicker Sean Gomez, who was five for five on extra points, also added a 40-yard field goal in the first half and a 30 yard field goal in the second half in the win for the Yellow Jackets. McGee tallied a game high 126 yards rushing in the win for SMHS, while Overman completed 12 of 21 passes for 229 yards and three scores. St. Martin faces Biloxi on the road in Region 4-6A play next week in a battle between a pair of teams that stand 2-1 in league play.
